Throughout her career Ms. Amy Kemp has held various accounting, IT audit, security and management positions with companies both large and small. throughout her career. Her exposure to Accounting, Controllership, Audit, Information Systems Security and Compliance, and Operations Management offered the ability to hone skills that solve complex problems while considering the human element of business.

In 2017 Amy had the unique opportunity to launch out on her own, offering her skills and services to the Asheville, NC market through her CPA firm. Throughout her career Amy has approached challenges with an open, flexible mind and positive attitude. Her unique perspective on technology as a result of her diverse accounting, audit, governance and security experiences. Appreciative of the impact new technologies will have on the accounting profession, and trust in general, she was inspired to form Kemp CPA PLLC as a means by which to assist those struggling to make the best use of current technologies while faced with security, governance and trust challenges. She was excited by the opportunity to offer her skills and talents to small businesses and non-profits that themselves aspire to make a positive difference in the world around us.

Amy is actively engaged in the Asheville community and its volunteer organizations. She love trees, values the natural world, enjoys biking, sewing, crafting, and spending time with family and friends. She is an avid yogi with a deep appreciation for the mind-body-spirit connection.

Nikolas Kemp, Accountant

Nikolas Kemp graduated from the University of North Carolina Asheville (UNCA) with a major in accounting and minors in both economics and business.  During and since his graduation, Nikolas has acquired several years’ accounting experience, primarily working with non-profit entities and small businesses such as Model Communities Association, Corliss & Solomon PLLC, and The Wild Salmon Company.

A US Air Force veteran, Nikolas has dynamic experience working in high-stress and collaborative working environments.  During his time in the Air Force, he was appointed leader of his class during his linguist training by his peers and supervising officers for his leadership skills. He went on to achieve a 4.0 GPA in the Urdu linguist program, becoming the first student to achieve that watermark in the history of the program. He strives to transfer his collaborative, leadership, and training skills into the private sector through his accounting work.

Mr. Kemp has volunteered at Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, and several other student organizations over the years.  His groundwork efforts at Habitat for Humanity have directly benefited low-income families in their efforts to gain affordable housing.

A skilled and passionate polyglot, Nikolas has language skills in Urdu, Hindi, and Spanish, and Khmer. As a graduate linguist Airman from the Presidio of Monterey in California, he has continued to develop interest in the field of linguistics by becoming an ESL teacher, earning accreditation from the British Council in New Delhi, India. He enjoys working with people of different cultures and practicing his language skills on a regular basis.

Nikolas has further developed his accounting skills through his work with Kemp CPA and its clientele. His ongoing activities include client setup in the Xero system, bank reconciliation, reporting, budgeting, data transfers, sales tax filing, 1099 reporting, and other accounting activities.

Barbara Homziuk, Administrative Specialist

Barbara has spent most of her career in administrative positions for universities, corporations, banks, lawyers, doctors, hospitals, chiropractors, financial firms and government agencies, both in the USA and England. She has held various positions ranging from personal assistant for top-level managers at the Environment Agency in the UK to receptionist for Time Warner Inc. in New York. Her pursuit of a career in the entertainment field led her through many temp agencies, gathering computer, writing, proofreading and communication skills along the way. Besides her strong office administration skills, Barbara specializes in writing and proofreading.
